Youth, entrepreneurship and lifeguarding: The Tux/Party Guard Story pt. 2

At this point you are probably wondering how does Tux Productions fall into all this?  Well, as I was out and about DJing and Party Planning for kids, the parents would ask if I did weddings?  Adult Birthdays??  Anniversaries, corporate parties etc etc etc…  “OF COURSE!?”.  I had years of experience doing all that, but realized I did not have a brand for the adult functions.  The “Party Guard” Hippo logo just didn’t make sense at a wedding…. Come to think of it, neither at a sweet 16.  I needed to grow a new division, brand and identity for all the 16 yrs + party requests.  With that, TUX PRODUCTIONS was born, June 2011.

Beforehand, I had mainly been freelancing weddings and other functions.  It made no sense, I needed a brand to promote that end of the business which was starting to surpass the kids party requests.  Once we came up with Tux Productions, a perfect symbol of class, elegance and modernity, I knew that the business was complete.  Today, we move forward with both brands, ready to fulfill the needs of the Montreal market at large.

So, what does this all mean?  And what do Youth, Entrepreneurship and Lifeguarding have in common?  Well, I guess the connection is that you never really know what your being groomed for in life, and you never really know as a youngster when one small, self proclaimed “good” idea might actually be something that ultimately becomes your life’s passion or career.  I believed in the opportunity I saw from that lifeguard chair, and followed it.  Ten years later, I have a successful business that I love doing, see the positive impact in, and wake up wanting to do.  It came with years of hard work to learn and study the business, much like my lifeguarding courses.  But now, I get to do what I love.
